Fun Things to do this July 4th Weekend

With so many Fireworks shows being cancelled this year, we wanted to give you some ideas on ways you can still have fun this Holiday weekend!

Canoe

Get on the Water

If you don’t own a boat, rent one for the day and enjoy the outdoors!  You can also take a quick trip up to Helen or Blue Ridge and go tubing.  Plus, there are fireworks being displayed from Lake Lanier Islands planned for July 4th as well as a display in Flowery Branch near Burton Mill Park put on by University Yaught Club on July 3rd each year.  From what we have heard, these are still a go and haven’t been cancelled.

Take a Hike

There are several great places within 2 hours to drive and hike through the cooler wooded areas…many end in a waterfall! Click here for some short easy hikes around North Georgia.

Celebrate Freedom with a Feast

Even if you aren’t a great cook, there are so many easy recipes to make for the 4th!  If you need some ideas, check out these delicious recipes here. What better time to crank up the grill…

If grilling isn’t your thing, support a local restaurant and pick up some BBQ! Here are some of our local favorites: Mooney's in Flowery BranchSmokehouse in Oakwood, and Praise the Lard in Sugar Hill/Buford.

Get Creative with Desserts

If you have never made homemade ice cream, you have got to try it! There are so many recipes that you can try out, and you don’t have to have an ice cream maker!

Here's one of my favorites. We mix together our favorite fruits, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla, – HERE’S A GREAT TIP to keep your ice cream from being rock hard - add a tablespoon of MCT oil or Vodka to keep it soft, and put it in the Freezer to set for a few hours. We also love making a traditional white cake and decorating it with strawberries and blueberries to look like an American Flag!

If you try out any of these fun ideas for your July 4th weekend, we'd love to see! Tag The Vallee Team on Facebook and @ValleeTeam on Instagram so we can share the fun!
